A small step towards Road Safety

While I have been driving back home daily since last couple of days on NH-95 from Ludhiana to Jagraon after 8pm (an identified accident prone black spot stretch). I daily notice many two wheelers are at great risk with rear light not working, and more than 50% bicycles are without (or very poor) reflectors.

A small step I take daily to reduce the fatality rate (hopefully) : I have been telling all those with fused rear light by stopping with waving hand while overtaking (making a note no vehicle is near) to get the rear light repaired since they become totally invisible when a high beam vehicle comes from opposite side. I also ask them for a favor that next time they see another two-wheeler with a faulty rear light, they should spread this message. And yes, they do thank me! (which brings a smile on my face at end of the day)

PS: I was aware of this term, but was not able to devote to it before I did the Road Safety audit for UN. Harman Sidhu (ArriveSafe), Navdeep Asija and Pritpal Singh are the personalities who inspired me for this cause. I hope I am able to volunteer more in this Decade of Action for Road Safety
